There isn’t much that hasn’t been already said about this man but as a little recap. His Dj sets are sophisticated, relentless and the stuff of legend. His productions mainly through his Axis and Purpose Maker imprints have been visionary for over 30 years. Constantly pushing boundaries of what’s possible with electronic music from the early intense club oriented sounds to the more melodic but off kilter sounds of Millsart and the Every Dog Has Its Day series. Journeys into Sci-fi realms and collaborations with legendary musicians like Tony Allen — this could end up being a very long paragraph so I will leave it at that.
And he is not letting up in the slightest, his releases of late have been top drawer. Particular mention goes to Don’t Ask Me Why and Inner Eye EPs — both under his Millsart alias and available through the Axis website.
But what inspired this post is his latest project ‘Tomorrow Comes The Harvest’. It is a collaboration with African musicians Jean-Phi Dary and Prabhu Edouard in which they perform live music fusing ethereal North African soundscapes and Jeff’s brooding electronics and the outcome is nothing short of breathtaking. Check out the footage of a performance set against the backdrop of Delos on link below.
They are embarking on a European tour starting 20 July in Turin, Italy. Also his website states there are more dates to come, so wherever you are in the world, you might be able to catch this unique show.
